As part of the Belfast Learning Festival 2025, we are hosting a free community event that will take place at Clifton House on April 10th. It aims to bring together artists, care professionals, and community organisers to explore the power of the arts in enriching the lives of older people and those living with dementia.
Join us for a day dedicated to creativity and connection!
This event will provide hands-on learning opportunities, practical insights, and engaging discussions around delivering meaningful arts activities for older adults. Attendees will gain valuable dementia training, experience a Plays Aloud performance, and hear from industry experts about best practices in community arts engagement.
Event Schedule
🕥 9:00 AM – Introduction to Plays Aloud (30 mins)
Learn about the highly successful Plays Aloud programme, its impact, and how it fosters creativity and connection in care settings.
🕘 9:30 AM – Dementia Training (1.5 hrs)
Gain essential knowledge on dementia and strategies for creating inclusive, dementia-friendly arts experiences.
☕ 11:00 AM – Coffee Break (30 mins)
🕦 11:30 AM – Plays Aloud Performance (1 hr)
Experience a Plays Aloud performance with residents from Radius Housing’s Clifton House, showcasing how live arts can transform care settings.
🥗 12:30 PM – Light Lunch (45 mins)
🕜 1:15 PM – Panel Discussion: Bringing the Arts into Community Settings (45 mins)
Hear from industry experts as they share insights and strategies on developing arts programmes tailored for older people and those with dementia.
