Arts Workshop Programme

In November 2024, we proudly launched our brand-new Arts Workshops Programme, funded by the National Lottery Community Fund. Led by our artist-in-residence, Geoff Hatt, these interactive musical workshops took place in 10 care schemes, bringing music, memory, and creativity into the lives of older adults.

The workshops were designed to explore the connection between music and memories, culminating in the co-creation of a unique scheme song, which residents performed together. The response exceeded all expectations—our original target was 90 participants per workshop block, but we reached 152 residents, with 124 attending multiple sessions. This enthusiastic engagement highlights the growing demand for creative arts activities in care settings.

Beyond participation numbers, the programme demonstrated a measurable impact. Self-reported well-being scores improved by 11%, a significant outcome when compared to similar arts initiatives. Additionally, over half of respondents had never taken part in an arts programme before, emphasizing the importance of accessible and inclusive creative opportunities.

The workshops provided residents with meaningful engagement, sparking conversation, laughter, and connection long after each session ended. Staff also noted a positive ripple effect, with residents showing improved mood and interaction throughout the day.

The launch of the Arts Workshops Programme marks an exciting new chapter for us, made possible by the generous support of the National Lottery Community Fund. We are thrilled to continue delivering creative, high-quality experiences that enrich the lives of older adults.

Stay tuned for updates on future workshops and the continued impact of this programme!
